About this Speaker:

Walker, (Chinese Overseas Flagship 2019-2020), a genetics and biotechnology student at Brigham Young University, presents a report on the poverty alleviation of China's ethnic minorities through tourism. She discusses the role that tourism and government policies plays in revitalizing the local economy in areas occupied by China's 55 ethnic minorities. While sharing the social and cultural benefits of tourism on ethnic minority youths, she argues that there are also disadvantages. Her internship took place in the Spring 2019 semester.
